Caldbeck Colts v Edenhall Sunday XI

Winning the toss and electing to bat first the Edenhall Sunday team was looking to get back to winning ways after a recent setback at Stainton by posting a good total away at Caldbeck.

Captain Noah Hoyle sent out formidable opening pair Max Butler & Matthew Hetherington to much excitement and anticipation from the packed crowd. With the world renowned short boundaries of Caldbeck in sight it was clear that confidence was high among the openers as Butler warmed up practicing an array of ambitious looking shots. Sadly for his many followers a shortlived 8 was all he could muster on this occasion. Hetherington however showed excellent patience in between some expressive hitting as he got things going with a strong 28. Noah Hoyle added a solid 40 before Joe Mein's patient 55 n/o with support from Casey Briscoe (17). Thanks must go to Caldbeck loanee Megan Wetherall who scored an excellent 29, whilst managing to safely navigate the power hungry Umpire Butler, in support of our final total of 207 for 9 from 36 overs.

After an excellent spread from our hosts which actually included some refreshments (Wigton take note) and some warm up bowling on the astro our 1st team reserve bowler and lead scorer Ben Hoyle opened the bowling alongside Archie Hale and kept things tight enough to ensure Caldbeck were always behind the rate. Captain Noah Hoyle juggled his many bowling options to ensure wickets were shared between the devastating attack as run out chances came and went and then came again as Caldbeck were finally all out for 137.

So it's back to winning ways for the newly assembled Edenhall Sunday team who look forward finally to a home game next week.

Special mention to Joe Mein (55*) and new recruit Casey Briscoe (17) for their partnership of 68 runs and both players being among the wickets. Well played!
